problem ripping & burning in wmp11

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition & WMP11 (downloaded as an auto.
update-computer came pre-loaded w. WMP10.) Trying to burn wma files from
wmp11 library,burn process stops after finalizing first track:error
message:"WMP cannot burn files to CD, Verify that disc is clean & not damaged
(brand new good quality blanks). If necessary, select a slower recording
speed (I've tried to burn all the way down to 1x) or try a different brand of
discs (tried many diff. brands-same results).Web help info gives error
message C00D11AB: "This error might have been triggered by an error in
another program or component of windows." Trying to Rip pre-recorded music
CDs, I get error message "WMP cannot rip tracks from CD corectly because the
CDdrive settings in Device Manager do not match the settings in the Player."
Original Error C00D0FB0. Technical details says, Error Message C00D10D2,
"This error might have been triggered by an error in another program or
component of windows." Compaq SR1820NX came with DVD/CR-R HL-DT-ST
DVDRRWGSA-H21L.Status section says device is working properly. No trouble
playing files from WMP 11. Any help with a fix is much appreciated, I'm
making way too many coasters.

It sounds like your CD drive is failing. There may be other, better testers,
but one I use is DVD-Info from http://www.dvdinfopro.com/. There also may be
some testing tools in your Roxio software that came on your Compaq.

Im using Windows Vista windows media player 11 I could play cd's last week
and now I cant play any cd's not even the ones that i burned earlier. It says
that is cant be read in digital swicth to analog and when I try to do that it
stil does not work whats going on can you please help me the erroe message is
C00D10D2

I can Rip the same discs with Realplayer or Zune
