when I try to play a WMVaudio/video file in WMP9 it will
not play and I get the following message,

The audio codec identified by the tag 130 is required to
play this file. To determine if this codec is available
to downlowd from the web, click web help.

When I click on the web help the page comes up
stating "Page cannot be displayed".
Please can anyone advise me where I can get the 130 codec
from and how to install it.

Is it possible it's a wave file ? That code would correspond to the
ACELP codec from Sipro Lab Telecom Inc. You might look there. It
really depends exactly what content it is and where it came from, as
to what codec they used, some people make some very odd choices.

Try some of the samples on the bottom line of this page
http://www.webtorials.com/sndsmpl/samples.htm
and see if it triggers the same error. They're encoded with the SPiro
ACELP codec - its mostly a voice codec for low bitrates (like, 5kbps
speed)

If it's a web page you're getting the content from, do you have the
URL to it handy - that would be of more help ? You could always then
email the webmaster and explain they're using a non-standard codec.

Hi Neil
tried the samples which worked O.K. The file is a
tutorial downloaded from one of the members at Adobe
Studio Exchange.
